NEPAL

The Hindu people of Nepal worship the god Shiva. They consider Shiva the guardian of their mountains and give many sacrifices to please Shiva. Missionaries are beginning to work among them but still 99% of them do not know Jesus.

INDIA

The Brahmin people of India are an important part of Hindu beliefs. They are the priests and spiritual leaders of the Hindu people. In recent years they have been questioning the value of their beliefs and are starting to seek truth.

BHUTAN

The Santali people of Bhutan have combined Hindu beliefs with some tribal ideas. They worship Hindu gods along with the god of the sun. The Santali people who hear the gospel are quick to believe it.

WHERE THEY LIVE

The country of India is large and crowded. There are 1.3 billion people living in India and over 2 million of those people are infected with HIV. Many women have lost husbands to HIV and are infected themselves.

WHAT THEY NEED

The HIV positive women of India need to hear the good news that they are loved by God. They need people who are willing to give them opportunities to work and provide for themselves and their children. They also need medicines and healthcare.

HOW THEY LIVE

Because of their infection, HIV positive women live hard lives. It is very difficult for them to find jobs, receive any medical help, or even make friends.

HOW TO PRAY

Pray that the women of India who are affected with HIV will encounter a God who makes everything clean. Pray for people who can employ them. Pray for friendships to grow between them and missionaries. Pray for medical care to be provided in the name of Jesus.

WHAT THEY BELIEVE

In India, people believe in a caste system. This means that a person is born into a certain level of the society and has to remain within that “caste.” They believe that a person’s status, well being, and misfortune is the result of their karma.

WHAT TO GIVE

$13 provides a one week supply of medicine for one HIV positive woman. Every dollar raised will also get matched by Sonlight and goes towards sending more missionaries to the field. Please consider how many weeks of medicine you may be able to help fund.
